artofsightartofmind.com features artwork from John Stand, one of Ogunquit Maine’s prominent local artists. Ogunquit is a seaside artist community located on the pristine Southern Maine coast.

John’s professional career began while attending a two year program at Boston Architectural Center for Design.  His first design position involved working for a firm in central Massachusetts and included creating showroom displays and vignettes for a local furniture company, where John designed his first mural. 

Combining his natural painting abilities and his love for design, John has created a natural feeling gallery at his bed & breakfast, Distant Sands. Throughout the B&B your senses will be delighted by various wall painting techniques, murals, painted furniture, and, of course, his display of acrylic paintings. 

John still dabbles in other mediums with his art and talent by doing set designs for various town events in the local community.  John is on the Board of Directors of the Ogunquit Performing Arts and is the Vice President of the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce.
